Family & Companion Support

Family and companion support extends care to the people around someone with a substance use disorder, family members, friends, and caregivers, whose own wellbeing and involvement directly affect recovery outcomes. Addiction’s stigma and isolation extend to companions too, often without the community support seen with other health conditions. A moderated digital community gives them a safe space to connect with others facing similar challenges while learning how to support their loved one while also caring for themselves. This support has a direct, documented impact on retention: individuals with an engaged support system are more likely to remain in treatment, adhere to their care plan, and avoid returning to use. For treatment providers, it’s also a core program offering in its own right, reaching everyone impacted by the disease. Health plans and public sector organizations can extend this same support across a population, delivered digitally rather than built as new infrastructure.
